THE PROBLEM: More than 70 million people in India are currently diabetic, and the numbers are expected to only double within the next decade. Due to these alarming statistics, the World Health Organization has referred to India as the Diabetic Capital of the World. A major and common complication of diabetes is Diabetic Foot Ulcer, which can occur 10 to 14 % of patients in India with an alarming 40% increase in the 10-year period. Uncontrolled diabetics have a 25-30% heightened risk of developing a foot ulcer, which might become infected and may remain a non healing ulcer for months on end and eventually require hospitalization and non-traumatic limb amputation.

THE CAUSES: The major cause of diabetic foot ulcer is mechanical and thermal damage being not recognised by the person as aresult of loss of nerve sensations in the extremities (peripheral neuropathy), and atherosclerotic peripheral arterial disease. Even asmall injury does not heal with secondary infection supervening. Uncontrolled blood sugar does not allow the infection to heal.

THE SYMPTOMS: Painless ulceration is the commonest symtom with secondary infection and foul smelling discharge. The ulcer can erode the skin, pad of fat beneath the skin and may also expose the deeper stuctures like bone and tendons.

THE CURRENT MANAGEMENT:The present approach to management of foot ulcers in diabetics has a very poor and slow response and the ulcer may remain a non healing ulcer despite anti biotics and debridement, eventually requiring amputation,Apart from self-care techniques like regular examination of feet, wearing comfortable footwear, and controlling blood sugar levels, further physical and clinical evaluation by a vascular surgeon/podiatrist would assist in timely medical interventions.

BENEFIT OF ARTIFICIAL PANCREAS THERAPY (APT) Now available for the first time in India, the US-FDA approved Artificial Pancreas Treatment (APT) is an innovative and clinically established therapeutic method of pulsatile intravenous Insulin delivery mimmicking the normal function of a healthy pancreas, with a highly efficient and successful rate in treating diabetes and its associated complications like diabetic nephropathy, neuropathy, erectile dysfunction and foot ulcers. APT mimmicks the pulsatile release of insulin by pancreas there by stimulating the liver to release nearly 30 enzymes which help every cell to heal and regenerate. Once APT therapy is instituted every cell in the body immediately begin to repair and regenerate. Few sessions later the damage is reversed and healing is complete. The blood flow to the ulcerated area is improved leading to excellent healing. You can enjoy a bonus of better metabolism, control of blood sugar, improved renal function and digestive system.APT has revolutionized treatment of metabolic disorders and has proven benefits in halting and even reversing debilitating complications of diabetes.

This exclusive treatment is accessible only at the Koya Diabetes Care Facility in HyderabadThe Artificial Pancreas Treatment (APT) has proven benefits in not just healing infected diabetic foot ulcers, but in also restoring nerve sensations in affected extremities, thereby avoiding the potential likelihood of limb amputations.
